28 Wedding Updos That Brides & Guests Look Amazing In

This blog is about wedding updos that you could wear, either as the bride or the guest.

When I think of an “updo” I usually think of something that is on top of my head.

But that is always the case.

An “updo” means that your hair is swept back from your face and held in place with at the back or top of your head.

So, you can have different types of updos: a high one, a low bun, or somewhere in the middle.

These are good for summer weddings because they will keep you cool.

The hairstyle that you choose to wear as a bride or as a guest at a wedding would also make a big impact on the dress you’re wearing.

Most off-shoulder dresses or outfits would look stunning when worn with an updo.

You may also want to wear an updo to incorporate pins and floral pieces into your hair to take your outfit to the next level.

Updos don’t usually work with short hair because the hair does not stay in place.

An updo could also be anything from a ponytail to a messy bun or a braided bun.

There are so many styles that you could choose from when deciding which updo suits you best, but remember to keep your wedding theme and outfit in mind.

Another note: a tight, slicked back up-do is for a more formal wedding, whereas a messier style is for a more laid-back wedding.

28 Wedding Updos You’ll Love

1. Add a few floral pins

If you are wanting to make your hairstyle more feminine and dainty, then this is the way to go.

Adding a few floral hairpins takes your updo to a new level.

If you wanted to you could use real flowers instead of fake floral pins.

Just don’t forget to cut off the thorns if you are using roses!

You’d want your updo to be as comfortable to wear as possible.

2. Tuck it into a bun

This tucked-in look gives the impression that the hair has first been braided and then put into a bun.

The low bun is a good hairstyle to make sure that your veil fits at the back of your head.

This twisted bun style is very popular.

I like how elegant and classy it looks.

3. Add some large pearls

Adding some large pearls not only makes your hairstyle more sophisticated, it is also a talking point.

You could have pearls of different colors too depending on your wedding theme and outfit.

Pearls are a very romantic addition to incorporate into your up-do.

4. Low ponytail updo

A low ponytail is a good updo for a summer wedding.

Adding some side pieces adds a feminine flare to the hairstyle.

This hairstyle is so fun, I love how simple it is.

I also like how they have used strands of hair to wrap around the hair tie.

5. Adding real roses

Now this is a statement.

I love how bold and beautiful this updo is.

The way that they have twisted and folded this bride’s hair so that the roses stay in place is so stunning.

I also like how they have left side pieces to shape the bride’s face for a more romantic hairstyle.

6. Adding big clips

Adding big clips is a really clever and easy way to add some gorgeous details to your updo while also holding it in place.

I love the loose twist, just how it would look if you used a claw clip to hold your hair in place.

These twists and curves are so stunning.

7. Slicked back bun

Not a fan of the slicked-back style? For a softer look, gently arrange the top of your hair with your fingers instead of using a comb.

This really gives the hairstyle a more natural “imperfect” look.

Again, here is the bun with the curves and twists that we absolutely love.
